BABYMONSTER’s Ahyeon Fiercely Defended After Accusations Of “Lazy” Dancing
Netizens have defended BABYMONSTER‘s Ahyeon from allegations of “lazy” dancing during a recent event.
On July 20, BABYMONSTER attended the Tencent Music Entertainment Awards (TMEA). As expected, Ahyeon gained attention for her unreal visuals, which were captured by fans attending the event.
In the past, Ahyeon has been criticized for “over-dancing,” and a clip posted on the Korean forum Nate Pann (along with other social media platforms) accuses Ahyeon of dancing “lazily” after recent criticism.
In the comments, while some netizens criticized Ahyeon, most stuck up for her and the constant hate she was receiving. Many emphasized that it was a small clip from a much longer performance and how the moment came before Ahyeon’s big vocal moment, so it wasn’t surprising that she tried to maintain energy.
- Breaking the spirit of someone who works hard and then slacking off, that’s absurd. LOL
- That’s too much. It’s like acting sulky just because of a little criticism. You need to accept feedback without taking it too personally.
- She eased up on the dancing to save energy for their solo part after the group performance, and now you’re making a fuss.
- They’ve been constantly active since their debut, performing countless times. It’s normal to take it easy for a moment. They weren’t unprofessional throughout the performance, and you’re nitpicking a few seconds. Can you bring more than just a few seconds of footage? You can’t, right? If you live like this, you’re going to stress yourself out. LOL
- Hey Baemon fans, instead of just increasing the comment count, get your explanation to the top comment.
- They’re making judgments based on maliciously selected clips. She performed well throughout the stage. That part comes right before the high notes, so she always eases up to walk to the center. People who don’t even know are just eager to criticize women.
- That clip is just a moment in time. LOL. She was saving energy for the high note part, and overall, the performance was amazing as usual. LOL. Are the haters’ radars working?
- If her singing was bad after that, I’d want to criticize, but since she did well live, there’s no need to bash her.
Fans posted many clips on social media that also seemed to refute the claims from the short snippet, showing Ahyeon putting a lot of effort into her performance, showcasing both her live vocals and stage presence.

While some netizens claimed that their opinions are to help her improve, others have been accused of simply “hating” the young idol.
