BABYMONSTER’s “CLIK CLAK” Faces Unexpected Broadcasting Ban
According to recent reports, BABYMONSTER’s latest song, “CLIK CLAK,” is facing a broadcasting ban.
The song is one of the double title tracks from the group’s first full-length album, DRIP. It was also the pre-release single of the album, and the music video garnered quite the attention, raking up 10 million views in less than 24 hours.
Reports state that “CLIK CLAK” failed to meet the standards of KBS’s reviewing board and, hence, has been deemed unsuitable for broadcast. Usually, when a song receives such a rating from KBS, artists have the opportunity to modify or remove the parts that go against their regulations and request a re-evaluation.
BABYMONSTER’s song was deemed unsuitable because it contained the names of specific product brands such as Ferrari and Cartier. Such lyrics violate the Broadcasting Review Regulation Article 46 (Restriction of Advertising Effects). Meanwhile, the other tracks from DRIP, including the second title song by the same name, have all been approved for broadcast by the network.
While fans are disappointed by KBS’s decision, a violation of Article 46 could lead to harsh consequences for networks. Recently, SBS faced legal sanctions due to a similar issue.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK Jennie’s new song “Mantra” was also banned by KBS. You can read the details about it here.
