Bang Si Hyuk Makes History As The First Entertainment Industry Figure To Be Awarded An Honorary Doctorate From Seoul National University
Bang Si Hyuk (also known as Hitman Bang or Bang PD) will receive an honorary doctorate from Seoul National University (SNU), one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea.
Officials from Seoul National University confirmed on March 15 that Bang Si Hyuk will receive an honorary doctorate from the university. The university awards an honorary doctorate to someone who has made a special contribution to academic development or improvement of the cultural heritage of mankind, according to officials. Bang Si Hyuk will be the first entertainment industry figure to ever receive an honorary doctorate from SNU, which proves just how meaningful and significant his work in the entertainment industry has been.
According to The Korea Herald, Bang Si Hyuk graduated from Seoul National University in 1997. In 2005, less than 10 years after he graduated, he founded HYBE (formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment).
