Capital Market Experts Predict That (G)I-DLE Will Make A Full 6-Member Comeback This Year
According to capital market website, The Bell, girl group (G)I-DLE may be gearing up for a comeback sometime within the third quarter of this year.
The Bell concluded with their prediction following a thorough analysis of (G)I-DLE’s label, Cube Entertainment‘s sales from the first and second quarter of this year. According to the capital market website, the girl group recorded a total sales of ₩16.3 billion KRW (about $14.2 million USD) in the first quarter, with an overall profit of ₩2.20 billion KRW (about $1.91 million USD) — and those are the numbers for just (G)I-DLE’s group activities.
Jeon Soyeon (commonly known as Soyeon) recently made her long awaited solo comeback just a few days ago with “BEAM BEAM,” which has been performing well on numerous different music charts. Not only did she make a solo comeback, but fellow (G)I-DLE member, Yuqi also promoted with her first ever single album titled A Page, adding onto the overall success of the girl group for the first half of 2021. Yuqi has also been busy promoting in China with her numerous different entertainment schedules, raking in additional profits for Cube Entertainment.
In addition to (G)I-DLE’s activities, Cube Entertainment recently debuted their rookie girl group LIGHTSUM just a month ago, which The Bell believes will play a crucial role in the label’s third quarter profits.
It’s been reported that Cube Entertainment has “plans to increase the activities of their label’s major artists for the upcoming third and fourth quarters of 2021.” With that said, The Bell predicts that (G)I-DLE will be making their long awaited full 6-member comeback sometime this year to keep up with the agency’s upward profit trends.
These predictions come in the midst of (G)I-DLE’s previous controversy involving Soojin. In February of this year, dozens of South Korea’s top stars began getting accused of being school bullies and perpetrators of school violence by anonymous netizens online. These allegations swept the industry by storm, as countless stars fell to the rumors — and amongst the accused was (G)I-DLE’s Soojin.
In light of her controversy, Cube Entertainment made the decision to halt Soojin’s activities with the girl group, stating that “(G)I-DLE [will] continue as a five member team for the time being.”
And while (G)I-DLE made an exciting comeback in April 2021, it was with just 5 of the group’s members. Their track titled “Last Dance” had excluded all traces of Soojin, disappointing all of their fans.
It has been 4 months since fans last heard from Soojin, as she continues to remain inactive during her temporary hiatus from the K-Pop industry, while it has been 6 months since the public has seen a 6-member comeback. (G)I-DLE last made a full group comeback in January 2021, when they promoted with “HWAA.”
And while The Bell’s predictions are not based on factual evidence but rather profit calculations, it may be just what Neverlands ((G)I-DLE fans) needed to hear during their ongoing waiting game.
