The show’s fourth episode featured actress Jeon So Min as a special guest. During one of their conversations about family, Choi shared that he had lost his mother when he was very young. “My mom passed away when I was four. My older brother is six years older than me.”

After losing his mother, Choi Daniel had a difficult family life. He recalled that his father got extremely busy trying to make ends meet for his two kids. “We needed at least the bare necessities. So, he was incredibly busy,” he explained.

Choi shared some specific titbits from his memory of his childhood, recalling how he couldn’t even afford to buy school uniforms at times. “Back then, there was this famous brand called Ivy Club. I couldn’t afford that brand…I ended up buying my uniform from a place near the school.” He added, “Or I’d wear the hand-me-downs from the school.”

The actor recalled how he hated playing around wearing his white uniform because he couldn’t afford a second one in case it got stained. He even had a fallout with a close friend who mistakenly flicked some sauce on his uniform. “That’s how much I cherished my uniform,” he explained.

His circumstances also pushed Choi to start working when he was a high schooler and live on his own since he was 20.

Despite such challenging circumstances, Choi Daniel was able to build a successful entertainment career spanning nearly two decades! Currently, he appears in a KBS K-Drama, Sorry Not Sorry, with Jeon So Min.
