Billboard publishes list: “Top 5 K-Pop Artists to Watch in 2015”
In a recent article published by Billboard, they named their top 5 K-Pop artists to look out for in 2015.
On January 28th Billboard shared 5 groups they think will make a splash in 2015. Within the competitive industry and flood of rookie idol groups, Billboard has picked these groups based off of fan anticipation, previous chart performance, views on YouTube, and industry talk. With that in mind iKon, MAMAMOO, G-Friend, G.Soul, and Jooyoung were the artists that made Billboard’s list of acts to keep an eye out for in 2015.
Despite not having made an official debut yet, iKon has become one of the most highly anticipated groups of the year. Although they were scheduled to debut in January, their debut was pushed back due to their dedication and detailed work on the album, and they are currently working hard on their debut song.
MAMAMOO and G-Friend are girl groups that have also become a trending topic. After having performed their own rendition of the song “Wait A Minute” by Joo Hyun Mi on the show Immortal Song 2, the girls began trending on Korean search site Naver. The powerful performance earned them praise, and the girls took to their Twitter to thank their fans.
G-Friend recently made their debut with their song “Glass Bead,” and gained attention for their innocent image and dancing that resembled Girls’ Generation during “Into The New World.” Member SinB also received attention for her similarity to Jessica Jung.
Meanwhile G.Soul quickly climbed up online real-time charts with his song “You,” and has finally made his long awaited debut under JYP Entertainment. After 15 years of training and developing his talents as an artist, G.Soul has his first mini-album Coming Home.
Jooyoung has also been successful after collaborating with SISTAR‘s Hyorin for Starship Entertainment‘s duo project. The duo managed to take home the first place trophy on MTV‘s The Show with their song “Erase” last year in November 2014. Jooyoung also came together with artist Mad Clown, and released an amazing live clip of them performing “Kong.”
