BLACKPINK Makes History With “Ice Cream” Ranking On Billboard Hot 100 Chart
Long before BLACKPINK‘s collaboration with American singer Selena Gomez was officially announced, it was already making waves for how iconic it would be. After its release, “Ice Cream” received tons of support from fans, earning millions of views on the music video and just as many streams on various platforms.
On top of BLACKPINK being the first girl group to sell over 800,000 pre-orders for their upcoming full-length album The Album, the group has achieved yet another record thanks to “Ice Cream”.
On Billboard‘s The Hot 100 Chart, which takes into account sales, radio play, and streaming, “Ice Cream” debuted in the top twenty. Its ranking surpassed that of their track “How You Like That” and featuring on Lady Gaga‘s “Sour Candy”.
The peak of both of the tracks reached number thirty-three on the chart, followed by “Kill This Love” which reached forty-one. “Ice Cream” debuted at more than half of that by snatching up the thirteenth spot. The achievement didn’t merely break BLACKPINK’s past record.
The thirteenth spot ranking for “Ice Cream” sets a new record for the highest-charting track for any Korean girl group ever.
"@BLACKPINK's song 'Ice Cream', which was a collab with Selena Gomez hits #13 on Billboard Hot 100 chart. It's the highest rank for a Kpop girl group. And their MV reached 200M views in just 10 days"
