On September 19, BLACKPINK’s Jennie released a voice message through her agency’s official channel and called her fans “Rubies.”
Many fans speculated that this was Jennie’s official fandom name. However, this caused a misunderstanding with solo artist Kwon Eun Bi’s fandom, as her fandom name was RUBI.

However, even with the statement, Korean netizens felt that it would’ve been more appropriate for them to apologize.
- “Why is everyone lying these days. Just say you’re going to change it.”
- “Ok it’s fine since they’re changing it.”
- “They’re trying to fix things so please change it.”
- “Huh? Isn’t it better to say you didn’t know and apologize? What’s wrong with them.”
- “They should’ve just said we didn’t check beforehand and we will change it. Although I don’t have anything to say since they did say they will change it.”
- “Just let it go since they said they’ll change it.”
- “Ok good.”
- “Still, good thing they are changing it.”
- “The explanation is a lacking, but glad they are changing it.”
Jennie’s English name is Jennie Ruby Jane, but she called her fans “Ruby,” which is a part of her name. It was also revealed previously that she registered a trademark for “Jennie Ruby Jane.”
On the other hand, Jennie prepares for a solo comeback in October.
