BLACKPINK Jennie’s New Song “Love Hangover” Sparks Mixed Reactions From Korean Market

BLACKPINK‘s Jennie recently dropped a new song called “Love Hangover.” Dominic Fike features on the track, while actor Charles Melton stars in the music video as her love interest.
The song is about a couple who repeats the same mistakes and gets back together repeatedly despite disaster striking each time; the music video also centers around similar themes. It kicks off with Jennie lying in a coffin, her beau and others gathered for a funeral. She suddenly revives.
She goes on a movie date with Charles, only to be killed by a monster.
She chokes on an olive during a dinner date, and Charles gives her the Heimlich.
The olive ricochets and chokes her again.
She falls during bowling and crashes into the pins.
At a carnival, she floats into the air due to a helium balloon. Her boyfriend is unable to grab her in time.
Jennie falls back into the coffin and the cycle repeats.
While netizens enjoyed the movie-like cinematography of the music video, responses to the song were divided. Some felt that it was more boring than they expected, while others enjoyed the chill vibes.

- The song is good, but can I say that you can’t really hear it well in the MV? Both the song and MV are of such good quality, but it does feel like water and oil.
- Feels boring to me… Maybe I had too high expectations of Jennie, so I feel like all her pre-releases are all a pity.
- The song is kinda boring. It’s a pity that this is what she comes up with after leaving YG Entertainment.
- Her voice is such a treasure…
- The song is f*cking good, gasp.
- I like it.
