BLACKPINK Jisoo’s K-Drama Lead Reveals His Huge “Regret” About Filming With Her
On January 7, KST, the first trailer of Newtopia, the new K-Drama featuring BLACKPINK’s Jisoo as the female lead, was released.
On the same day, the cast of Newtopia held a press conference, where Jisoo appeared with her co-star, Park Jung Min, the male lead in the drama.
Newtopia will portray a romantic fantasy story about a soldier named Jae Yoon (Park) and his girlfriend Young Ju (Jisoo), who navigate an apocalyptic Seoul city overrun with zombies.
At the press conference, Park Jung Min, who is known for his exceptional performances in Smugglers, Start-Up, and Harbin, was all-praises for Jisoo, commending her professionalism and dedication. The actor revealed that they shot around 10 sessions together early in the filming phase, building the emotions between their characters, but then had a long gap before they met on set again.
Park then humorously mentioned that he had a “regret” about working with Jisoo on this drama that he wished to fix in the next season.
I regret not having more romantic scenes with Jisoo. It’ll be nice if you guys can help me out. If ‘Newtopia’ does well, I think I can properly explore that with Jisoo in Season 2. I’ll be looking forward to it!
— Park Jung Min
Despite the initial controversy around Jisoo and Park Jung Min’s casting opposite to one another, the two displayed palpable chemistry in the trailer and during the press meet, raising the anticipation for Newtopia, set to premiere on February 7, KST.
