BLACKPINK’s Lisa Selected To Join The Jury For French “2021 ANDAM Fashion Awards”
If you ever had any doubts that BLACKPINK‘s Lisa is one of the biggest names in international fashion, it’s time to abandon them. The K-Pop star and style icon has been selected as a juror for the prestigious 2021 ANDAM Fashion Awards in France this year.
ANDAM is one of the world’s most prestigious fashion awards. Based in France and sponsored by the French Ministry of Culture, ANDAM awards recognize fashion designers and other professionals in the style space all over the world.
Past winners include some of the biggest names in fashion—Moschino‘s Jeremy Scott, Maison Margiela‘s Martin Margiela, and more. Alongside the accolade, winners can also receive up to €300,000 EUR (~$365,000 USD) in endowment money.
The jury for ANDAM is typically made up only of high fashion executives from various houses, but the 2021 jury is twisting things up a little. This year’s diverse list of jurors includes photographers, enterprises, and entertainers—including BLACKPINK’s Lisa.
In just a few short years since her debut, Lisa has become one of the biggest names in the international fashion world. In 2019, she became the muse of Celine‘s artistic director Hedi Slimane and was later announced as the brand’s global ambassador in September 2020.
Lisa is also the latest ambassador for luxury accessory designer BVLGARI and Filipino brand Penshoppe.
Over the years, she’s been spotted in the front row of several international fashion shows, and the media has covered her style extensively. So, it should come as no surprise that ANDAM wanted her on this year’s jury.
The jury members are inspiring for all of us, because of their accomplishments, of course, but also because in one way or another each one has marked or changed his or her time and potentially the generations to come.
— Cédric Charbit, Balenciaga CEO and 2021 ANDAM jury president
Lisa will join over a dozen fellow jurors, including Amazon‘s head of fashion direction, a Vogue.com editor, and an author. After contestants submit their applications, the ANDAM jury will meet on July 1, 2021, to interview designers and preview their looks. The winners will be announced at the ANDAM Prize Ceremony in September this year.
Fashion is being nourished by new influences… The jury is coming from different horizons, and represents the different facets and faces of creativity today.
