Yet, Lisa’s skin tone sparked a debate about blackfishing, with some saying that Lisa’s skin was not that dark naturally while others shared that Asians tan in different ways, and the shock comes from years of the idol being “whitewashed.”

During the interview for the outlet, Lisa seemingly referenced the criticism as she gave some TMI about her “tan” and how it was because of filming for White Lotus in Thailand  rather than done on purpose.

Lisa talked about being a ‘rock star’ and then laughed, saying, ‘This is a bit of TMI, but can I share it?’ She explained that her tan, seen on the single’s jacket cover, came naturally while staying in Thailand for a drama shoot.

When the quote was shared online, netizens hit back at all the haters and said that Lisa was setting the criticism and allegations straight with her comment, even though it wasn’t directly addressing the hate she had received.

The concept photos caused a stir when they were first released.
