BLACKPINK’s Lisa Names Her “Life Turning Point” And Explains How It Changed Her Perspective On K-Pop Idol Promotions

BLACKPINK‘s Lisa graced W Korea‘s August 2023 edition and sat down for an interview with the fashion magazine, in which she opened up about her personal growth and her “life turning point.”

In her exclusive interview with W Korea, BLACKPINK’s maknae opened up about the group’s history-making performances at Coachella in 2019 and 2023.

She revealed that during BLACKPINK’s first Coachella performance in 2019, she “wasn’t that worried,” but the experience was different in 2023.

… things are different, and I know how audiences would react as I go up to the stage. I was even honored as the headliner of 2023. When I came down the stage, I kept crying. When I think about it, I had been feeling a good pressure before standing on the stage.

Lisa found inspiration not just from performing at the festival but also from enjoying other artists’ performances.

Coachella was very inspiring, and I could recharge myself with positive energy. As I watched the performance of other musicians, I also thought about what I should try next time.

When asked if there was a moment she considered a “big leap forward” in her life, she couldn’t identify a single moment but shared that her confidence has instead grown gradually over time.

Lisa admitted Coachella was a “life turning point” for her and played a “huge part” in increasing her confidence.

She candidly revealed that before Coachella 2019, she had struggled with the predictable K-Pop idol promotional cycle.
