BLACKPINK Lisa’s “Rockstar” Video Hit With Plagiarism Accusations
BLACKPINK Lisa’s latest video has been hit by plagiarism claims.
On June 28, Lisa released the video for her song “Rockstar.”
Amid the stunning outfits, Lisa was seen sporting a sexy star top.
It is this outfit that has sparked plagiarism claims.
Messages between the designer Yue Yang (who runs the brand A1J) and a user were shared online on the Chinese site xiaohongshu. In the messages, the designer explained that they had never been contacted about using the design and that they were surprised that Lisa’s team had used a “rip-off” version.
On the site, the designer shared photos of their own designs and the process of making the items that dated back to 2020.
They also shared that designs based on design had been “ripped off” and were being sold for much cheaper online.
After the messages were shared, the designer took to Instagram with photos showing the similarities. Before the explanation, the designer shared photos of the finished looks and those wearing them, including celebrities like aespa‘s NingNing.

They shared a message delving into more details of the plagiarism, explaining that they hadn’t got a copyright for the design due to it being time and money-consuming, as they didn’t have the capacity but were trying to contact the stylist. They also added that since the OG post on XHS, they were getting a lot of hate messages and threats.

“The star design was then either blatantly copied by other people or “modified” a bit to look otherwise. I agree that there are different minds thinking alike, but in the same time I think my design was definitely somehow on someone’s mood board at some point. Both on designer pieces and on Taobao.
For the past few years I tried to sue or report on the product but getting a copyright for this design is both time and money consuming. I did not have the capacity to register for my brand during covid time. Especially I was designing and making in london while most of other “inspired” pieces were made in other places, there’s difference on law in different regions. Since yesterday I’ve been trying to contact stylist who pulled pieces that I think is clearly a copy paste of mine, but still until now I have no response.
After voicing out on Chinese platform and here on Instagram, I have also received fake pr team messages from fans and threats comment on xiaohongshu.
And this is all I have to say for now.”

While the designer has voiced concerns, Lisa or LLOUD has to respond to the allegations.
