BLACKPINK’s Lisa Worries About Being The Role Model Of Thai Children, Here’s Why
BLACKPINK‘s Lisa is, without a doubt, one of the most popular celebrities hailing from her home country of Thailand. Born and raised in the Southeast Asian country, she moved to Korea at a young age to pursue her dream of becoming a K-Pop idol.
She signed a contract with YG Entertainment and trained for several years before ultimately debuting in BLACKPINK. The group was an instant success with their debut songs “Whistle” and “Boombayah” shooting them to stardom.
Lisa went on to become a successful model, endorsing luxury brands like Celine and BVLGARI.
Given her huge success in many areas of the entertainment industry, it’s no surprise many children in Thailand have chosen her as their role model.
The BLACKPINK singer is fully aware of this honor, admitting in the Netflix documentary Light Up The Sky, “I’m a role model in Thailand, but I don’t even know what kind of a musician I’ll be.” In an interview with American magazine Rolling Stone, she was asked what she meant by her words.
Lisa explained that she isn’t confident that she should be their inspiration when she is still “lacking in so many areas.” She believes there is still a lot for her to learn because of her young age.
Whenever I go to Thailand, there’s this new generation of babies that all look up to me: ‘I want to be like Lisa, unni!‘ But when I look at myself, I am lacking in so many areas. There are so many things I don’t know because I’m still young.

The thought that she still has many flaws makes her question when she will be ready to accept their admiration. She humbly stated that she still has a long way to go.
They look up to me as an idol, but I still don’t think I’m perfect enough to be their idol. Am I there yet? Am I ready? I’m actually really curious. In what ways am I an idol to those kids? I still feel I have a long way to go.

Lisa may not believe she is ready to be the role model of Thai children, but many will surely disagree. She is beloved by millions of people, after all! And the feeling is definitely mutual. In the music video for her solo debut “LALISA,” Lisa gushed over her love for Thailand. Read all about it here:
