BLACKPINK Rosé’s “APT” Boosts Stock Prices Of Popular Alcohol Brand
BLACKPINK Rosé’s latest release with Bruno Mars, “APT,” is quite literally sweeping the world off its feet. The song has already broken multiple records held by K-Pop powerhouses and even boosted the stock prices of YG Plus.
But as it turns out, the song’s popularity has spilled over into other industries apart from music. According to reports, South Korea’s leading soju maker, HiteJinro, has seen a spike in its stock prices on Thursday, October 24.
On this day, HiteJinro’s stock price hit ₩21,200 KRW (about $15.30 USD), a 6% increase, marking the biggest climb since February. Additionally, the trading volume of their stocks crossed one million shares, eight times higher than the previous day.
This sudden jump in HiteJinro’s stock price and investor interest has been credited to Rosé. In particular, it is being attributed to the promotional video she made with Vogue magazine for her new song, where she taught viewers how to make somaek using the Chamisul soju. She added that it was her favorite drink to have when playing the “apartment game,” the Korean drinking game that inspired her song.
The promotional video gained 2.9 million views in five days, marking a heightened interest of her international fans in Korean drinking culture. Rosé’s song is hence expected to boost Korean liquor companies even further.
Meanwhile, the song also earned Bruno Mars his first-ever Korean music show win. Read more about it here.
