BLACKPINK’s Rosé Warned Bruno Mars Not To Post His Viral “Fanfic”
After collaborating on their hit single “APT.”, BLACKPINK‘s Rosé says that she and Bruno Mars are now “besties.” And like any friends, they drive each other a little crazy sometimes.
During a recent episode of the YouTube show Therapuss with Jake Shane, Rosé shared behind-the-scenes stories about “APT.” At one point, host Jake Shane brought up “the most outrageous” moment that happened before “APT.” dropped. Immediately, Rosé knew what he was talking about and said, “He’s crazy,” referring to Bruno Mars.
That one “outrageous” moment was actually two. On October 16, Rosé shared a photo of herself with Bruno Mars. In the caption, she revealed that she had taught him how to play a Korean drinking game. Bruno Mars wrote, “[remember] when you tried to kiss me? That was [weird],” and, unsurprisingly, his comment went viral.
As it turns out, Rosé was freaking out about the comment just as much as BLINKs were. “Literally, he joked about it,” she told Jake Shane. “and I called him twice to be like ‘don’t do it, you’re going to get canceled. Like literally don’t do it.” But Bruno Mars wasn’t worried about it. She said he laughed and told her it was going to be “so funny.”
Rosé called Bruno Mars not once, but twice, to warn him not to post the comment. Though she was (rightly) worried about him going through with his plan, she finally posted her teaser photo for “APT.” anyway. At the time, she was packing for a flight. Midway through packing, she saw Bruno Mars’s comment on her photo. “I was screaming,” she said, so loudly, in fact, that her team rushed in to see what was wrong.
The shenanigans didn’t end with that kiss comment. As Rosé was on her way to the airport, she checked Instagram again and saw that Bruno Mars had posted his own teaser photo — and a comment she called “fanfic.”
“Are you kidding me!” Rosé exclaimed. She called Bruno Mars, who couldn’t have been more thrilled. She tried to convince him that the situation was serious, but he was just having way too much fun.
I’m like, this is serious for me! I’ve been waiting to release a song for so long, like, you’re so annoying. (laughs)

Jake Shane pointed out that Bruno Mars’s antics were great for promoting “APT. ” But that wasn’t the only benefit. Rosé said that his silliness lifted her mood and alleviated some of the anxiety she had felt about releasing a new song.
