BLACKPINK’s Rosé Reveals She Once Lost Her Passion For Music
BLACKPINK‘s Rosé surprised fans when she opened her own self-titled YouTube channel a week after dropping her solo album R. Her first video was entitled “ROSÉ | Interview Film” and it followed her journey from childhood to her current promotions.
She revealed that there was a time in her life when she lost the passion she had for music, something she had loved since she played the piano as a child.
I think at one point, I didn’t even enjoy listening to music.
— Rosé
Her self-confidence took a hit. Despite being a gifted singer, she didn’t know if this was meaningful enough. “For a good couple of years…to have talent in music, to have talent in singing, I kept thinking about what it truly means.”
As time passed, she learned to ignore her doubts and remember why she loved music in the first place. She decided to share her experiences as a K-Pop idol and beyond through this medium.
I’ve gone through many different things in life, and through this experience, I realized the most important thing in music is to portray my life experiences and stories and make a voice.
— Rosé
Rosé took an active role in participating in the songwriting process of her album R. Both “Gone” and her title track “On The Ground” have her credited as a writer.
Rosé concluded her confession by saying how grateful she is for being able to express herself through songs, “That’s why music to me is ‘comfort’ these days.”
