BLACKSWAN’s Fatou Admits She Initially Didn’t Want To Bond With The New Members…Until Something Changed Her Mind
BLACKSWAN is making waves for their multicultural presence in the K-Pop industry! They currently consist of members NVee from the United States, Gabi from Brazil, Sriya from India, and Fatou from Senegal.
The latter is the member who has been in the group longest. She made her debut alongside Hyeme, Youngheun, Judy, and Leia back in 2021 with the song “Tonight.”
In an interview with Joysauce, she opened up about the lineup changes that she experienced in the next few years. She admitted that she was initially not ready to be a group with the new BLACKSWAN members because of her close bond with the original lineup. When I met the three new girls, to be completely honest with you, I was not really ready to reconnect again and build that deep bond and just be together in that creative space.
— Fatou
When her unnies departed, she was left “heartbroken.” Fatou could not imagine opening up to a totally new set of girls so soon.
I did it before, and I lost all of my members, and it was heartbreaking. I was heartbroken, and I was not ready to open my heart. I didn’t want to go through it again.
— Fatou
Fortunately, her point of view changed as soon as she started spending more time with NVee, Gabi, and Sriya. It was all too natural for them to grow closer.
But after a long conversation with the girls, I just, I guess without me knowing, my heart just opened again. My walls came down, and we kept talking for hours and hours.
— Fatou
In fact, Fatou went so far as to say that their bond is even stronger than the last lineup’s.
I just noticed, ‘Wow, we might actually have a stronger connection this time than the last members.’ We’re always together.
— Fatou
In her eyes: “It’s like we’re the same person in four different variations.”
