Brave Girls’ main vocalist Minyoung is making the news for her thoughts on fan-club fees.
On April 29, remarks made by the idol on the app Universe last November went viral on online communities.
The app fashions interactions between fans and celebrities as a chatroom. In the app, Minyoung asked fans, “I heard we are officially accepting fans in our fan club. By chance, do you guys need to pay to join?”
The idol then stated,
Why do fans need to pay to join? Just because other artists make their fans pay doesn’t mean we need to. Can’t we be different? I’ll see if I can lower the costs

The idol then went further, saying,
I really hate making the fans pay. It really p*sses me off. It’s not like a law states that fans need to pay. We are literally here because of the fans. Why would we charge them to join? Am I the weird one? Anyways, I’m so sorry, and I love you guys

Fans who belatedly saw the posts commented how touching it is to see her appreciate her fans.
Netizens wrote, “It’s so touching,” “It’s so cool to see how much she cares for her fans,” “Just hearing that she cares feels so good,” “Even if it’s just talk, I’m thankful,” and “I seriously wouldn’t mind paying to hear these words.”

Minyoung and her group, Brave Girls, were protagonists in a real-life Cinderella story. The once little-known group became a national sensation when a fan cam of the group performing their song “Rollin” for the army went viral. The group was planning to break up before the song catapulted them into stardom.
