Brave Girls Yujeong’s Unique Visual Quirk Scores Her A Brand Deal With “Turtle Chips”
Popular Korean snack company Orion has announced that Brave Girls‘s Yujeong will be the brand’s new ambassador of their tasty animal-themed Turtle Chips—and she scored the contract because of one unique visual quirk.
There are many reasons why idols get chosen as brand models. Some are picked because they’re popular, while others are picked because they’re good-looking. While Yujeong undeniably fits into both of those categories these days, it’s not the exact reason she was chosen by Orion.
Established in Seoul back in the 1950s, Orion is one of South Korea’s three largest food companies today. The brand is known around the world for its delicious Choco Pie snack cakes, but it also produces a range of corn soup, Himalayan salt, and cinnamon-flavored snacks called Turtle Chips.
Unsurprisingly, the chips (which are similar in shape to a turtle shell) feature a cute turtle as their mascot—and that’s precisely the reason why Orion chose Yujeong to represent them.
A few weeks ago, over 7,000 netizens voted on which idol looks the most like Squirtle—the adorable water-powered turtle from the first generation of Pokémon—and one idol topped the poll by a huge margin.
With over 43% votes, Brave Girls’s Yujeong topped the poll with her cute cheeks and precious turtle-like smile.
Alongside voting for Yujeong in the poll, fans swamped Orion with requests to hire Yujeong as the new model for Turtle Chips. One post about the partnership on a Korean forum even reached a staggering 1 million views.
Unable to deny customers what they want, Orion ultimately decided to hire Yujeong as the new Turtle Chips ambassador. Alongside holding various promotions with Yujeong, Orion will also be producing limited edition chips packaging with her face on the wrapping.
From topping the charts to scoring brand deals, there’s no doubt the Brave Girls members are finally getting what they deserve.
