BTOB’s Eunkwang Addresses Changsub And Peniel’s OT7 Controversy
BTOB‘s Eunkwang has stepped up to address the recent OT7 controversy.
Recently, BTOB’s subunit, BTOB 4U was reunified after Minhyuk‘s return from the mandatory military service. To celebrate, the members of the subunit held an online concert for their fans to show their appreciation. During the concert, however, members Changsub and Peniel were captured holding up 7 fingers numerous times throughout the concert to indicate their loyalty to departed member, Ilhoon.
Just a couple months ago, BTOB member Ilhoon was embroiled in a marijuana scandal. He was accused of habitually using the drug, which is illegal in South Korea. Fans demanded that he be removed from the group, as they felt that he was tarnishing the group’s good name. Just a few days after the scandal became public, Cube Entertainment announced that Ilhoon would be leaving the group.
After the initial Ilhoon controversy, Eunkwang stepped up into his leadership role to speak on behalf of his team and now, he is stepping up once again to talk about the OT7 controversy. With a picture of a black square, this is what the leader had to say.
Hello! The controversy happened not too long ago and yet here we are, creating pain for you guys again. As the team’s leader and as Seo Eunkwang, I have decided to come forward to share some words with you all. Firstly, I would like to apologize to those who were hurt by our actions at our recent concert. I want to say that I’m truly sorry from the bottom of my heart. I know that your previous hurts haven’t been healed yet and with that pain, you were all trying to start anew by watching our concert and because I know that, I feel more apologetic.

Honestly, I thought that if I kept smiling and working hard, this would blow over and it would all be okay one day. However, as soon as ‘our concert’ was revealed, I felt so many emotions and had so many thoughts. I cried it out and stood strong as we stated ‘BTOB is forever’. I will always take full responsibility and take care of BTOB. I will do all I can to sing my best until the 6 of us are reunited in November and until we can see each other with smiles on our faces. I hope that we can be the strength that we need for one another. You’re always like that Melody. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. I love you guys.
