BTS Takes The Title Of Billboard Fans’ Favorite Album Of 2020
With 2020 coming to a close, Billboard has been posting various year-end lists and articles about what they and their fans believe to be the best music of the year.
On December 28, they released the results of the poll they’d created for fans to vote for their favorite album of 2020.
There were 50 albums to choose from in total, ranging from Taylor Swift‘s Folklore to Lady Gaga‘s Chromatica and The Weeknd‘s After Hours, to name just a few.
However, K-Pop fans proved to be an unbeatable force as BTS ended up taking the first spot on the poll!
With 30.66% of the total vote, Map of the Soul: 7 was determined to be the fan favorite album of the year.
This album, released on February 21 this year, gave BTS their highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time, with “ON” peaking at #4 on the chart. Of course, this was later beat by “Dynamite” taking the #1 position later this year, but it was a huge deal for the K-Pop group at the time, and it’s still an impressive feat, especially since the lyrics in “ON” were mostly Korean.
BTS managed to just surpass Taylor Swift’s Folklore album by a little over 1% of the vote, as she came in 2nd with 29.28%. In third place was Dua Lipa‘s Future Nostalgia, with 6.49% of the total.
BLACKPINK‘s The Album was also on the poll, and it came in 7th place on the poll with 4.26% of the votes. This is still a really high position for a K-Pop group on an American poll!
Congratulations to BTS, and here’s to a successful 2021 for the group!
