BTS’s J-Hope Makes Everyone Proud After Winning Award In The Army

“Truly one of the kindest and talented idols out there.”

On June 4, the army held a presentation competition called the “Strong Warrior, Army! Presentation Contest” that featured the participation of about 170 soldiers and civilian employees. One of the participants was BTS‘s J-Hope, and fans couldn’t get over how handsome he appeared at the event!

J-Hope’s speech was posted on the National Defense News YouTube channel, during which he expressed his pride to be a soldier for the Republic of Korea and how fans have shared their gratitude for his service.

A Korean fan came up to me and said this. They told me they were really grateful that all seven members (of BTS) are Korean citizens. They also said to me that it was an honor that I was with the trainees every time they completed their training. Maybe that’s why I feel like I’m spending very meaningful and rewarding days lately. It’s a great pride to serve as a soldier for the Republic of Korea.

After his speech, J-Hope ended up winning the grand prize for the event, which is an honor in itself but also included a 500,000 won (~$360 USD) reward. It’s just the latest honor that the BTS member, who is currently a sergeant for the military, has been given during his enlistment.
