BTS Are Always Busy With Schedules, Here’s How They Make Time For Their Music
BTS‘s J-Hope recently sat down for a “Give me a minute” interview with fellow HYBE labelmate Zico. In the interview, J-Hope opened up about everything from his surprising instrument to how he feels about nail art. And, of course, he also talked about all the work he put into his solo album, Jack In The Box.
In a previous interview with W KOREA, J-Hope admitted that his work on Jack In The Box got delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which left him prioritizing his work with BTS.
I started working on the album after the pandemic [started], maybe in 2020. I had to halt the individual project because BTS has things to do.
– J-Hope
Because his work was delayed, J-Hope pushed himself to the limit to complete Jack In The Box by his deadline.
It is really hard to concentrate fully on something usually, because of the schedule. I knew that the minute I thought ‘I gotta do this,’ I needed to do it or the chance will be blown away. So I never left the studio.
– J-Hope
In the interview, Zico admits that when he’s working on music, he can devote all of his time to it…
For me, I need to just make music and do nothing else when making music…
– Zico
Which isn’t possible when you’re promoting with a group like BTS.
But that’s not really possible for BTS. You have lots of activities scheduled. How do you work on your music under such conditions?
– Zico
J-Hope explains that while it’s undoubtedly difficult and takes adjustment, BTS adapted by bringing their equipment wherever they went.
In the past, I really had no time. We had so many things to do as BTS. I’d often be working on music overseas with just a comptuer and dynamic mic.
– J-Hope
Which Zico teases is “the life of a pop star.”
This is the life of a pop star. Taking your equipment overseas. Taking equipment overseas for a four-day trip is being a little showy. But having no choice but to take your equipment with you, this is the life of a pop star.
– Zico
