He’s always been very private!

Contrary to popular belief, BTS‘s Jin has friends!

Once, during an interview, Jin joked that he didn’t have friends, much to BTS’s shock and dismay, considering they believed themselves to be good friends after being together for so many years.

Yet, BTS are not Jin’s only friends.

In the latest episode of Disney+ docu-series BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star, a short portion focused on Jin’s personal time with his friends. We’re introduced to his non-celebrity friend group that he has had since pre-debut.

The group took a camping trip. They set everything up before resting and conversing.

Jin revealed he had burned himself, and it hurt, so they advised him to ice it. When he admitted he was “too lazy,” one friend teased him to just “endure it.” He responded, “I tried to endure it when I tore a ligament,” and the friend retorted, “I don’t think that’s how that works.”

Jin revealed that when he tore a ligament, he would not have known and got the proper treatment if it was not for his friends. They took him to the doctor, and now his finger has recovered, thanks to them.

Jin: I tried to power through, but my friends sent me to a doctor.

Friend: Of course. That’s good.

Jin: Then the doctor told me that I had torn my ligament. It would have been really bad if I had tried to endure it.

Friend: You wouldn’t be able to use your finger then.

One of his friends was concerned that Jin’s parents would blame him for Jin’s injury. Jin revealed that his mother really likes his friend Gun Han.

Friend: You told your parents I had nothing to do with it, right?

Friend: Please.

Friend: I bet your mother doesn’t like Gun Han.

Jin: She likes him, actually.

Friend: “Won’t you lose your finger if you hang out with him again?” *laughs*

Jin’s mom low-key credits Gun Han for Jin’s debut in BTS. She thinks that if Jin had focused on his studies rather than hanging out with Gun Han, he wouldn’t have debuted!

Jin: My mother likes Gun Han, though. She believes that I was able to debut because I hung out with him instead of studying. *laughs*

Friend: Is that right?

Friend: So, it’s a good thing.

Jin shared more about his friendship in a one-on-one interview. He explained that he and his friends make time for each other, even when they’re busy. He trusts them enough that they sometimes hang out at his home when he’s out working, so when he returns, he’s met by them.

We meet up about six times a week when we can. About once or twice a week when we’re too busy. When I’m out working, they’ll hang out at my house playing video games and greet me when I get home. When I leave the house, they hang out among themselves and leave. I know a few celebrities, and they all say friends like that are rare. I’m glad and relieved.
