BTS’s Jin Discusses His Struggle With Making Friends
BTS‘s Jin seems like a popular guy, but he doesn’t have that many friends, so he claims.
Jin recently guested on the last episode of KStarNextDoor4, hosted by Jonathan. Jonathan asked Jin about his small friend group.
Jonathan: Is it true that you don’t even have three celebrity friends?
Jin: Not three, but…
Jonathan: You don’t have a lot?
Jonathan mentioned Jin’s friendship with a world-famous celebrity chef. He said, “When we looked it up, your friends were big seniors like Baek Jong Won.”
I can say Baek Jong Won is my best friend because I’ve never met anyone like him before. He calls me once a day. I prefer texting, so I don’t make calls. But if I text him for something, he’d call me. We also play the game together.

Jin revealed that he considers Baek Jong Won one of his best friends, and they keep in touch every day after forming a friendship when the chef guested on Run BTS! in 2021. They even play games together.
Jonathan: You like games.
Jin: We always play the same game. I meet him the most among my friends.
Jonathan asked Jin, “Do you only have a few friends, or do people not feel comfortable because you’re a huge celeb?” Jin confessed that while he’s in the entertainment industry and has met many people, his contact list is an incredible fraction compared to others.
I don’t have many people saved in my contact. People in this field have 2,000 or 3,000 numbers saved in their phones. I’m also in this field. But including people from my agency, my family, my friends, and everyone, I only have about 120 people. That’s about it. I only have a few. I want to get to know people, but I don’t have a chance to do that.

Jin confessed he wanted to connect with more people but struggled to do so. Jonathan suspects that people believe they don’t have a chance to build a friendship with a star like Jin, much to his disappointment.
Jonathan: People wonder if they’d get to see you again. I think the chance is very low.
Jin: That’s the problem. People think it’s not easy to see me again, so they never call me. I wish they did.
Jin would like people to contact him, but they don’t.
