On an episode of Lee Mujin Service, Jin and host Lee Mujin suddenly begin talking about military service.

You were at the military recently.

— Lee Mujin

Jin asks if the host as served his mandatory time to which he replies no. Jin then jokingly raises his hand like he’s going to hit him.

The two laugh and continue to carry on the conversation. However, this small gesture has much bigger implications.

Netizens also noted this is not the first time he raised he hand when talking about the military.

A post showing the videos quickly gained gained comments, with netizens leaving their input: Many felt as if the gesture was inappropriate, even if it was supposed to be a joke. However, some stood firm on the fact that it was all in good fun.

  • “What’s with him? His hand goes up first.”
  • “I get that he was trying to joke around, but it feels like a fail… Even jokes need context. He hasn’t built a broadcast persona like Park Myungsoo’s, so raising his hand just because of a military comment felt off. It was clear Lee Mujin was taken aback. It doesn’t fit his usual image, so it just felt like, ‘Why here? Why now?'”
  • “? LOL What’s with him??? Such a stereotypical Korean man.”
  • “Acting cocky about the military to a junior 10 years younger… what is this behavior? Tsk tsk.”
  • “Isn’t it just a playful slap between guys? (Assuming they’re close.) But honestly, it’s funny for someone who delayed enlistment until 30 to act like they know it all. Even that foreigner looked like he was giving a half-hearted reaction.”
  • .”..If he had just stuck to talking, it would’ve been fine, but his hand went up.”
