President Joe Biden Sings BTS’s “Butter” On “The Tonight Show”
Are you ready for the most bizarre crossover of 2022? It’s here!
BTS‘s fame in the US has been steadily rising, but it reached new heights during the COVID-19 pandemic. The release of “Dynamite,” the group’s first English single, kicked down the language barrier and reintroduced the public to BTS’s music.
The success of “Dynamite” was followed by two more English singles: “Permission to Dance” and “Butter.” BTS’s performance at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards further cemented “Butter’s” status as a global mainstream hit. It can be heard on radios, in stores…and from the president’s lips?
“Butter” made a surprise cameo during a news segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Host Jimmy Fallon, a certified ARMY, couldn’t resist bringing BTS up while reporting on Joe Biden‘s first visit to Asia as President of the United States.
“Biden spent the weekend in South Korea,” he said. “and you could tell he really started to pick up on South Korean culture.”
Cue the video! The Tonight Show‘s staff spliced and edited real clips of President Biden to create this fake cover. Just when was the president talking about butter in public? We need to know!
