BTS’s Jungkook Feels He Hasn’t Achieved His “One Big Goal,” But ARMYs Respectfully Disagree
BTS‘s Jungkook officially released his solo single “Seven,” featuring Latto, on July 14, 2023, and instantly earned attention worldwide with his vocal talent, his cinematic music video featuring actress Han So Hee and Latto, his charming personality during promotions, and more.
To celebrate the release of his new song, Jungkook sat down for an interview with Weverse Magazine, during which he opened up about promoting on his own, his creative decision-making process, how he’s changed since debut, and his goals for the future.
Over the last ten years, BTS has made history and broken records on numerous occasions, cementing themselves as one of the top music groups in the world.
For the first time, the members have been focusing on their solo activities. For the group’s maknae, he’s chosen to fully trust himself as he navigates the unfamiliar territories of his solo promotions and BTS’s “chapter two.”
I’m just going to trust myself and do it even in the future … That might result in failure in the future, but I’m going to trust myself.
— BTS’s Jungkook
Jungkook revealed that while he continues pursuing music, both as a solo artist and a member of BTS, he has one goal in mind: to be a “giant pop star.”
I only have one, big goal, and it’s to be a giant pop star. I’m not thinking about what the next concept I pursue is going to be or anything. “Seven” wasn’t something I planned in advance either—Producer Bang Si-hyuk just played it for me, and it was so good, I said, ‘Oh, I definitely have to do this one.’ I figured out what kind of promoting I’d do once I decided to do “Seven.” That’s all instinct too.

When the interviewer reasoned that Jungkook was already a “giant pop star,” Jungkook humbly disagreed sharing that he didn’t feel that way.
To Jungkook, he feels he can do more and “be even better.”
I don’t see it that way. I guess it’s just my ambition—the ambition to be more appreciated and be even better. In a word: cool. That’s the whole reason I’m doing this.
— BTS’s Jungkook
Jungkook hopes to experience the feeling of being a “giant popstar” and acknowledges that he’ll feel he’s earned that title when he can see himself as such from a “third-person perspective.”
I want to be that kind of pop star someday—I want to be able to really experience that feeling. I hope the day comes that I can look at myself from a third-person perspective and give myself that kind of recognition. I’ll know I’m that kind of pop star once I can do that.

While Jungkook doesn’t feel like he’s achieved the status of a “giant pop star,” ARMYs respectfully disagree, sharing reasons they feel he’s already earned that title.
#Jungkook💜 #Seven has been creating its own history unlike anyone has ever seen. Your impact is worldwide due to your humbleness, unique musicality, being an all rounder, and love for your fans. You’re already a giant pop star it’s just the industry is finally getting to see it! https://t.co/Q1L6CwXhh0
