It’s all an illusion.

BTS‘s Jungkook recently went viral for showing abs, and no, it was not for a photoshoot.

The singer has shown off his sculpted body quite some times before. In fact, the 2018 BTS song “Fake Love” had a choreography that required Jungkook to lift off his shirt to show his full set of abs!

When Jungkook became the global ambassador for Calvin Klein, fans anticipated that he might end up posing shirtless for a campaign. It came true within a few days, and pictures of Jungkook in an unbuttoned denim shirt, with his abs peeking from underneath, sent fans into a frenzy.

But, the BTS maknae offered the final blow with the concept photos of “Seven.”

Recently, Jungkook went viral again for displaying a six-pack ab, but here’s the plot twist: they weren’t real!

On July 21, the singer performed “Seven” live on BBC‘s The One Show. He blew away the audience with his unique vocals, unreal dancing, and charismatic stage presence.

While the performance became a hot social media topic, ARMYs couldn’t help freaking out over his styling for the show. They noticed that his shirt showed the contours of well-sculpted abs, even though it wasn’t a see-through material!

It turns out that the shirt he was wearing is part of Jean Paul Gaultier‘s Y/Project collection, which often involves optical illusion in its designs.

The specific product that Jungkook was wearing was a striped sleeveless vest top that reached down to the torso. Though the BTS member wore it tucked in, only showing the design’s six-pack part, it also includes the shape of a man’s v-line at the bottom! The piece retails for about ₩1.06 million KRW (about $825 USD).

The faux six-pack’s impact on fans was so real that “THE SHIRT” started trending on Twitter soon after the performance!

But this is not the first time a BTS member has donned a risqué piece from Jean Paul Gaultier. Jimin had styled a pair of trousers from the Y/project‘s Fall/Winter 2022 collection with a white vest for a photo sketch from his solo album FACE. The pants had a print that gave the illusion of a pair of naked, toned legs.

It looks like, from styling fashion-forward pieces to topping Billboard charts, Jungkook is following the steps of his Busan-bro quite alright!
