The BTS members rarely share too much information regarding their personal lives. This includes religion, although one could find references throughout songs, such as “Blood Sweat & Tears.” So, some ARMYs have speculated that Jungkook might be Christian based on a few details.

Jungkook attended the faith-based school, the School of Performing Arts in Seoul (SOPA), for high school. The school’s official website says it is “South Korea’s first and only Christian-based high school with special purposes in performing arts.” It includes mandatory services every Wednesday afternoon as well as a Bible-teaching class once a week.

ARMYs have also noticed Jungkook praying before meals. This isn’t exclusive to Christianity, but most Christians do it.

Additionally, Jungkook covered the Christmas song “O Holy Night.” Lyrics include, “It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth,” and “O night divine, O night when Christ was born.”

Yet, during a Chuseok Greeting, Jungkook appeared to pray like a Buddhist rather than a Christian. He’s also been seen at the Buddhist temple Ganghwa Bomunsa (보문사 – 강화).

Jungkook has been spotted wearing what appears to be a Mala beaded bracelet during photoshoots, music videos, and live broadcasts for many years. Mala (in Sanskrit, it means “garland”) beads are rooted in Hinduism and Buddhism and are used for meditation.

There’s even been a few that speculated Jungkook could be Muslim. There’s not much evidence to prove, though.

Now, Jungkook has opened up about religion for the first time.

Today, Jungkook held a live broadcast via Weverse after he attempted TikTok Live. During his Weverse Live, he explained that he is not religious since he was never pressured to be. He shared that his father’s family was Christian, but his mother’s was Buddhist.

I don’t have a religion. My father’s side is Christian, and my mother’s side is Buddhist. But for us (children/younger generations)… We don’t really have religions. There wasn’t any pressure for us to have a religion, either. Therefore, I don’t have a religion.

So, it makes sense that Jungkook appears to follow some practices from both religions! So, he is just non-denominational or non-religious.
