BTS’s Jungkook Is Giving Us All The Feels At The UN General Assembly
Today, BTS attended the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as speakers and special presidential envoys to President Moon Jae In.
Here, the members delivered a message of light and hope to a generation in need of it. In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they encouraged listeners to look forward to brighter days. They also touched on important environmental issues and vaccinations.
BTS first attended UNGA in 2018, in partnership with UNICEF. At the time, leader RM was the only member to speak. He delivered his famous “Speak Yourself” speech that deeply resonated with fans. It is now being used as teaching material in some schools.
In 2020, BTS were invited back to UNGA to speak again, via video, to the world’s youth. This time, all seven members opened up and told stories about their personal frustrations with the pandemic.
Although BTS’s shared, virtual speech touched hearts, nothing quite compares to hearing BTS speak in person at UNGA. For many, this was an emotional experience, but one particular detail is really sucker-punching ARMY in the feels.
When RM first spoke at the UNGA podium, he had just turned 24. Now Jungkook, who has always looked up to RM as his role model, is doing the same at 24 years old.
Jungkook’s speech at UNGA: “I was saddened to hear that entrance exams and graduation ceremonies had to be cancelled, this are moments in life to celebrate, and missing out in them must’ve been upsetting. We were heart broken when we heard our concert tour was cancelled…” pic.twitter.com/5Qm6FABk8g

Does history repeat itself? Yes, and sometimes, it’s in the best way!
