BTS’s Jungkook Claims “Live Long And Prosper,” Star Trek’s William Shatner Responds
Space, the final frontier. K-Pop, the global sensation. The worlds of BTS and Star Trek just collided, and it’s all thanks to Jungkook!
On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, BTS’s members taught fans fun, new hand gestures to try out at home. These include V‘s “piece of pizza” sign, Jimin‘s “that guy stole my pogo stick,” and more, including a gesture every Star Trek fan knows: the Vulcan salute.
The salute, created by actor Leonard Nimoy, aka Mr. Spock, is accompanied by this Vulcan blessing: “live long and prosper.”
“This one means ‘live long and prosper,'” Jungkook said, demonstrating. “I invented it and Star Trek learned it from me.”
How is that possible? Hold onto your tribbles, folks! “Captain Jeon” will explain:
How is that possible? Because Star Trek takes place in the future.
— Jungkook
After watching the skit, ARMYs hit up the original Captain Kirk, actor William Shatner, to hear his thoughts on Jungkook’s retconning. How’s this for a stamp of approval?
I can agree with that logic!😉🖖🏻 @BTS_twt pic.twitter.com/wpJ3tw6qp5
