BTS Prove They Were The Main Event Of The 2022 Billboard Music Awards Without Even Attending
Whenever BTS attend award ceremonies, they instantly become the main event, whether it’s the GRAMMYs, American Music Awards, or those in Korea, including the Mnet Asian Music Awards. The group instantly becomes the biggest talking point at events, from the way they dress to their interactions with other celebrities and their performances.
Unfortunately, BTS confirmed that they wouldn’t be attending the recent 2022 Billboard Music Awards, and fans were sad that the members wouldn’t be attending. Yet, if they thought BTS would go unnoticed, they had another thing coming.
In previous years, netizens had loved seeing how full the audiences were as it made the atmosphere bigger and more exciting. Yet, netizens shared videos about how empty the MGM Grand Garden Arena seemed to be and the number of tickets on sale. Although it cannot be confirmed that it’s because BTS chose not to attend, many ARMY has assumed so.

Others pointed out that last month, the same venue had been sold out for BTS’s PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LAS VEGAS shows when it was used to live stream the events for fans.
Even though the group wasn’t there, the BBMAs tried to ensure that fans in attendance would still get their taste of BTS.
During the commercial break, the screen played BTS’s iconic performance of “Boy With Luv,” featuring Halsey from the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. It’s easy to say that the crowd was obsessed. In videos shared on social media, the whole venue seemed to erupt, and fans were seen singing and dancing along…

One fan even joked that it was the loudest moment of the entire show was when the song came on.
The LOUDEST moment at the #BBMAs was when #BoyWithLuv came on during a commercial break. The noonas screamed with all our hearts. 💜 https://t.co/Gbs1wpVXRQ pic.twitter.com/fCuJ8lIwbv

One ARMY even took her ARMY Bomb to the show to showcase her support for the group during the event.

Of course, the biggest evidence of BTS stealing the BBMAs was the awards they won and the records they broke at the same time.
By winning the best Top Duo/Group award, BTS is tied for the record held by One Direction for getting the most wins in this category, as both groups now have three wins.

When it came to the category of Top Selling Song, BTS’s “Butter” and “Permission to Dance” were nominated, but it was “Butter” that ended up getting the win.”
The final award was just as big as they scooped the Top Song Sales Artist. With this, the group made history as they beat out Destiny’s Childs as the music group with the most wins after winning 12 awards in total, compared to the girl group’s 11).
Most awarded groups in #BBMAs history:

• Destiny’s Child (11)

As always, BTS proved that they were once again the main event of a huge, global event. Hopefully, next year, the members will be able to attend and perform with ARMYs filling up the stadium to show their support.
