BTS’s RM Remembers Visiting Las Vegas Over A Decade Before Returning For “PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE,” Reflecting On His Growth
During BTS‘s ending ment for day 2 of PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE in Las Vegas, Nevada, leader RM reflected on his growth.
He shared with ARMYs a personal story about traveling to the United States for the first time when he was 15 years old.
I had my first trip to the United States of America and when I was like 15 it was like 2009 and it was with my family.

RM remembered not exactly enjoying the trip initially. He had gone on a bus tour with his parents, which was not particularly exciting.
My dad lead me to that and I was in some bus… It was a boring tour, it was like 40 people in the bus and then you know, going somewhere and stop by, take a photoshoot for one hour and then go somewhere and stop by, head shopping… Some food at the restaurant that I don’t even know… So, that was some boring tour, but the last stop was Las Vegas…
— RM
Yet, the last stop was to Las Vegas, and the city stood out to young RM. It was memorable due to not only the lights but even the people.
But what caught my mind for real is the neon and the lights and the people’s face. Like they all looked happy in here.

At just 15 years old, RM dreamt about one day returning. Now, years later, he got his wish.
So, I was like ‘Okay, when I grow up and if I earn some money, I’ll definitely come back and enjoy some of the Las Vegas vibe.’
— RM
This was very poignant for RM, though, because also at that age, he had contemplated giving up music. So, over a decade later, RM’s music career was what allowed him to return to Las Vegas. He felt very thankful for ARMYs as he remembered this.
It felt really strange because, at 15, I was thinking about giving up the music and … going back to studying again to high school. So, I never thought that I would come back at this amazing stage with all of my lovely fans. Thank you for my coming back to Las Vegas making this, tonight, very special.
— RM
RM concluded by giving a special heartfelt message to his younger self, the younger Kim Namjoon, who was struggling and contemplated giving up his dream.
And I want tell the little RM, Namjoon 15-years-old… I want tell you: Your life, your next Las Vegas will be amazing. I love you.
