BTS’s RM Addresses His Smoking Controversy In New Song
Today, BTS‘s RM made his solo comeback with the album Right Place, Wrong Person, which includes the title track “LOST!”
The bilingual album is filled with existential questioning but also explicit songs that communicate that RM is taking sh*t from no one.

One song in particular has become a fan-favorite, and that is Track #3, “out of love,” which opens with the lyrics, “My life is out of love.” It’s the verses that have ARMYs in a chokehold, though. In Verse 2, he sings, “You can f*ck my body, can’t f*ck my mind.”
“you can fuck my body, can’t fuck my mind”

Yet, that was still not the most shocking lyrics. In Verse 1, RM addresses the controversial topic of smoking.
I’m just a pack of cigarette
I’m going to burn down all the love and the hate, the right, the wrongs
Even the godd*mn world I’ve been livin’ in for my whole life
Smoking kills, I know
It’s my f*cking business, you b*tches stop, don’t talk sh*t
Ashes falling like snow
I’ve been changin’ the flow
Time to let go of the past, the memories, the stacks of truth
Diaries without priorities
I already killed myself out of f*cking fears
Smoke, drink, people, I know they stink
Mix them all up and I put ’em in the sink
I don’t do the dishes ’cause it’s my f*cking script
After a dozen years, I can now feel the creepiness back again
I don’t belong here, poetry died and love was buried
Anyway, since you and I believe in different truths
Then I don’t blame you
I don’t blame you
Love will probably fail— RM, “out of love”
In November 2023, RM accidentally shared a photo of himself casually smoking a cigarette outside with a friend via Instagram Stories, which he deleted shortly after. Still, he received criticism for smoking, as K-Pop idols are upheld to strict standards, as people believe such actions are a “bad influence” on their young fans.
A few days later, RM seemingly addressed the controversy via Weverse Live. He said, “It’s my life. …I’m just a singer.”
namjoon: guys please ( in korean) guys come on, it’s my life, tell your opinions about- i don’t know guys, i’m just a singer

Now, RM directly addressing it in song is powerful, as he calls out his haters. Loyal ARMYs are proud of RM for sticking up for himself.
