BTS’s Suga Opens Up About The Inspirational Relationship Between BTS And ARMY
In a recent interview with People, BTS discussed their latest single “Permission to Dance,” its choreography challenge, and its message.
“Permission to Dance” is BTS’s optimistic response to the COVID-19 pandemic, encouraging listeners to still find joy even in these difficult times.
BTS and ARMY have a close relationship, and Suga opened up about how that will continue in the future.
It’s always been mutual—ARMY are inspired by us and vice versa—and it will always be. We prioritize our fans when it comes to our music and performances, so I think naturally, ARMY really connects with what we do. Seeing them enjoy our works, that in turn, inspires us to do more.

Reporter Mackenzie Schmidt wrote that much like BTS who use their influence to spread positivity, ARMY “followed the stars’ lead in […] supporting those impacted by the pandemic and social justice causes.” For example, Schmidt mentioned, last year ARMY matched BTS’s $1 million donation to the Black Lives Matter movement.
The relationship between BTS and ARMY relies on a cycle of trust and inspiration that is totally unique to them, and both the group and their fans hope it continues for a long, long time.
