BTS’s Suga Goes Behind The Scenes Of “Stay Alive” And “Girl Of My Dreams”
BTS‘s Suga has shared new details about the making of two hit songs: “Stay Alive” and “Girl of My Dreams.”
Suga produced “Stay Alive” as an OST track for BTS’s new webtoon, 7FATES: CHAKHO. The song, which premiered on February 5, is sung by Jungkook. Since its official release (February 11), “Stay Alive” has charted high and smashed streaming records.
“Girl of My Dreams” is a Juice WRLD song featuring lyrics and vocals by Suga. It was released on December 10, 2021 as the sixteenth track on Juice WRLD’s second posthumous album, Fighting Demons. Previously, Suga and Juice WRLD worked together on “All Night,” a song from the BTS World mobile game OST.
In his latest live broadcast, Suga talked about his songwriting process as well as BTS’s tour, his dog Min Holly, and much more. Suga remembers receiving the lyrics for “Stay Alive” while BTS was in Los Angeles for their PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE concert in late 2021. He looked to existing manhwa OSTs while preparing to produce his own.
On BTS’s return flight to Seoul, Suga began writing “Stay Alive,” along with “Girl of My Dreams.” After days of rehearsing, performing on stage, and a 13+ hour flight home, most people would curl up in bed to recover. Not Suga!
He recalls recording “Girl of My Dreams” shortly after he arrived in Seoul, followed by “Stay Alive.” Suga and Jungkook‘s combined talents created a hit track that fans immediately fell in love with.
Jungkook sings so well. I was in America when he recorded it. I had recorded it by myself and sent it to Jungkook, but he sang it so well! Before I sent it to mix, I kept listening to it while editing, and I liked it so much that we just went with it without re-recording it because he sang so well.
