BTS Suga’s “Yoongi, Marry Me” Joke Guests On National Television
Wherever BTS‘s Suga goes, marriage proposals are sure to follow!
BTS’s members all receive marriage proposals from fans, but “Yoongi, marry me,” has become the new “I will sue, Min Yoongi.” In other words, this inside joke is now an international phenomenon.
“Yoongi, marry me” has appeared at BTS concerts…
…at airports…

…and now it’s making a guest appearance on national television!
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is an American late-night television program hosted by comedian John Oliver. During a satirical news segment, John Oliver mentioned a “figurative” fever than has infected the world, BTS.
You probably thought that the national disease that he was referring to there was the literal one [COVID-19] that’s killed almost a million Americans in two years or the figurative one that is BTS fever…
Suddenly, John Oliver detoured just to drop a marriage proposal. “And by the way,” he said. “Yoongi, marry me. I have the documents.”
In 2018, long before the “Yoongi, marry me” craze took off, Suga replied to a fan’s proposal by telling them to, “bring the documents.”
In the immortal words of Jimin:
