Why An Intimacy Coordinator Was Needed For BTS V’s “FRI(END)S” MV

So much went into its production.

BTS‘s V released his new pop single “FRI(END)S” with its music video. It’s a “dark comedy” short film with V as a man in a world full of couples.

ARMYs noticed that the MV was diverse, showcasing various ethnicities, races, genders, etc. Many LGBTQIA+ couples were featured.

Most of the couples are seen being affectionate and kissing each other passionately. So, it was wise to include an additional crew member that many might not usually think of.

Eagle-eyed ARMYs noticed that Intimacy Coordinator Stella Moss was among the cast and crew listed in the music video’s description.

While intimacy coordinators are important roles on set, they aren’t always included. Actor Kim Ji Hoon previously revealed that he didn’t have one when filming a sex scene. Intimacy directors and coordinators are choreographers usually hired to work with actors who film intimate scenes in a production.

An Intimacy Coordinator is a choreographer, an advocate for actors, and a liaison between actors and production for scenes that involve nudity/hyper exposed work, simulated sex acts, and intimate physical contact in tv or film.

So, it was commendable for an intimacy coordinator to be included on the set of “FRI(END)S,” knowing there would be many actors filming kiss scenes. It proved just how much thoughtfulness went into the production.
