The group went up against BLACKPINK, MONSTA X, TWICE, SEVENTEEN, and (G)I-DLE in the “Best K-Pop” category this year. This marks the third year in a row that BTS has won this award: “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey won in 2019 and “ON” won in 2020.
The “Best K-Pop” category was first introduced in 2019 and was under fire for allegations of discrimination against Korean acts, as fans noticed BTS was not nominated for the main categories despite high commercial success. This year, however, BTS is nominated for 7 other categories, including “Song of the Year,” and they have won “Group of the Year.”
Congratulations to BTS and ARMY!
