Byeon Woo Seok Had The Realest Reaction When He First Saw The “S” Necklace In “Lovely Runner”
Anyone remember this necklace? It’s the special necklace that Ryu Seon Jae (played by Byeon Woo Seok) gave to Im Sol (played by Kim Hye Yoon) as a token of their love.
Although his memories of her disappeared, changing the future, he still remembered the necklace in the end. He passed by the store selling it and was moved to tears. Although he did not know why, he still bought it.
Later on, after his memories were restored, Seon Jae gave the necklace to its rightful owner.
Many fans of the show have commented that the necklace was probably the only imperfection in the otherwise amazing drama. It’s big and clunky, causing fans to liken it to a dog tag. Regarding the necklace, the director of the show admitted that it was a mistake on his part. He had sent two designs to the writer to choose from. The first was a cute umbrella, while the other was an initial pendant. The writer felt that as both of the leads’ names start with “S,” the initial would be a more romantic choice. She did not imagine that it would come out the size of a thumb!
Byeon Woo Seok was also shocked when he first saw the necklace.
[When Seon Jae first gives Sol the necklace,] it was a situation where each and every day was dangerous, and they had no time. When I received the necklace on set, I wondered, ‘he’s giving her this?’ ‘Is is S for Sol or Seon Jae?’ There were some debates, and I even asked if there wasn’t anything else, but there was no time so I just said ok. The line next is even ‘I’m at a loss for words because it’s so pretty.’ I decided to act my best, thinking that Seon Jae probably has no aesthetic sense, and probably doesn’t know about such things.”
