Veteran Actors Of Beloved TV Show Get Into A Fight In Front Of The Cameras
Actors Cha Seung Won and Yoo Hae Jin (also known as Yoo Hai Jin) are OG hosts of tvN‘s beloved reality series, Three Meals A Day. Their unbreakable friendship has attracted a lot of viewers to the franchise over the past decade.
But in the latest episode of Three Meals a Day: Light, a special season celebrating the show’s 10th anniversary, Cha and Yoo ended up fighting over a pot of gochujang stew.
Cha first began cooking up a storm, throwing together all the ingredients he deemed worthy of being in the stew. When Cha stepped away from the fire to pick more chili peppers, though, Yoo added some super-fermented kimchi to the stew.
Cha returned, noticed the kimchi pieces in the stew, and immediately asked whose call it was. Tasting the stew—now heavily flavored by the kimchi and not at all like the gochujang stew Cha had in mind—Cha expressed disappointment…
…and even tossed the ladle to say he’s “done cooking.”
Cha Seung Won: …Did you put kimchi in this? Why?
Yoo Hae Jin: Just a little… Is that bad?
Cha: Ugh… Come on. Who does that? Who puts kimchi in gochujang stew?
Yoo: Oh, but I didn’t add that much. Does it taste bad?
Cha: Yes.
Yoo: Really…? It wasn’t a lot.
Cha: Forget this. I’m not making this anymore.
While Cha did indeed seem too upset to keep cooking, Yoo knew exactly how to de-escalate the situation. Luring Cha with a bowl of makgeolli, Yoo was able to crack a smile out of Cha who then went back to fixing the stew.
Yoo: Just come have some makgeolli with me.
Cha: Whose idea was it? Who did this?
Yoo: I did. I was getting some kimchi out of the container and it smelled delicious… So I thought it’d be good in the stew. No?
Cha: No… This stew isn’t supposed to have any kimchi flavor.
Producer Na Young Seok: Do you think you can fix it?
Cha: Well, it’ll have to be a different stew now.
Yoo: Here, take this.
Cha: Why did you do that, man?!
Yoo: I just wanted to help make it taste better!
Cha: I can’t believe you got to the stew in the little time I stepped away.
There was a bit of back and forth, but Cha and Yoo—as always—made up and shared a hearty meal over the gochujang-kimchi stew!
Yoo: He’s right. What I did was… Like messing with someone’s piece of work.
Na: I told you not to do it. I told you he’d get mad. This is going to last a good three days!
Yoo: My bad. I was stupid.
Cha: It’s fine. What’s done is done.
