K-Pop Idol Hit With Criticism For Holding Solo Concert The Same Day as The Group Concert
Who do you think is right?
Recently, idol group BTOB received a mixed response after announcing the group’s concert online.
While the poster revealed it was a group concert, it excluded two members.
Turns out, members Lee Changsub and Yook Sungjae‘s names were not seen on the poster. Fans then saw that Changsub was holding a solo concert on the same day as the group concert.
Currently, Seo Eunkwang, Lee Minhyuk, Lim Hyunsik, and Peniel are under the same company, while Yook Sungjae and Lee Changsub are in different agencies.
With this, netizens were divided on whether or not they should use the group name when all the members would not be attending.
- “I feel like this group needs to go their separate ways now.”
- “This is just my opinion, but it’s because the solo concert was announced first…if it were the other way around, it would have been chaos. I think it’s best for them to use a unit name.”
- “Am I the only one not understanding the comments? What’s wrong with four members using the BTOB name? So if one goes to the military or is on hiatus, do they have to use a unit name then too?”
- “Why are four members BTOB? Six members are BTOB!”
- “Do we need to divide them into units? If they want a unit name, they can, and if they want to use the group name, they should be able to.”
- “So even though the fans are saying that BTOB is six, Changsub is not attending the group concert and holding his own. Isn’t that the problem? It wouldn’t matter if they came out as a unit.”
- “So it’s not the group fans that are mad but the solo fans because they are holding a concert on the same day?”
- “When you think of BTOB, you usually think of the complete group, so I think it’s best for them to use a separate unit name for the concert.”
- “Don’t they already have a unit group BTOB 4U? Why is everyone so hooked up on the group name?”
