Choi Yena was a recent guest on Jonathan Thona‘s TheKstarNextDoor, and the talented singer opened up about promoting as a soloist, university festival season, and her new song featuring (G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi, “Hate Rodrigo.”
Choi Yena will return with a second single album, Hate XX on June 27, and has recently released a music video teaser for “Hate Rodrigo.”
The soloist surprised fans with her punk rock image transformation, which was completely different from her colorful and youthful Y2K concept for “SMiLEY,” earning praise for her duality.
That wasn’t the only thing that surprised fans about Choi Yena’s recent activities.
When she dropped the teaser video for “Hate Rodrigo,” netizens were quick to notice nods to popular American singer-songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo, leading netizens to wonder if it was a “diss track.”
Choi Yena cleared the air when she spilled all about the upcoming collab with Jonathan, and told him what she really meant by saying “Hate Rodrigo.”
The singer clarified that she actually loves the Olivia Rodrigo, but she admitted she was “jealous” of how the American star “shines.”
She shared that she said she “hates her” on purpose, to express that feeling of “jealousy,” and not because she actually hates her.
