In 2016, the first season of Produce 101 and the start of the Produce series and spin-offs aired.
Produce 101 took 101 female trainees through a competition system, resulting in the top eleven debuting in a temporary group called I.O.I. Jeon Somi, Kim Sejeong, Choi Yoojung, Kim Chungha, Kim Sohye, Zhou Jieqiong, Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Doyeon, Kang Mina, Lim Nayoung, and Yoo Yeonjung, names familiar to many now, were part of this group.
I.O.I. promoted for less than a year and saw massive popularity before the members disbanded and went their separate ways.
Over the years, fans have prayed for a reunion, though one featuring all the members has yet to happen. Still, the members have gathered together on occasion, exciting fans with any interactions.
Recently, Chungha gave her own update on her relationship with the members and any possible reunion.
Chungha recently made her return with Aivio, following a short hiatus. As part of her promotions, she was interviewed by Vulture magazine, where she spoke about a number of topics.
When asked about the spread of survival shows following Produce 101, Chungha stated that she envied groups that got to stay together longer than 10 months. She shared that she and the other members often talk about a reunion, but that she wasn’t sure if it would really happen.
I envy the groups who stay together longer than ten months! I really do. I would love to gather with my girls again. We always talk about it. I don’t know if it would really happen, but it would be one of my dreams come true.

While this might not be the answer some were hoping for, the group’s close relationship is something to be thankful for and helps keep the hope of an I.O.I comeback alive.
