Church Teacher Appears On JTBC Show Seeking Divorce From Wife Who He Impregnated As A Teen

A Korean couple with a ten-year age gap and a horrifying backstory has left netizens enraged.

On November 21, KST, JTBC’s reality program Divorce Camp featured a couple on the brink of divorce. The two had been married for 12 years, and the wife revealed that she got pregnant before marriage while she was in high school. The husband, who was a church teacher at the time, was 28 years old.

This revelation left the host, Seo Jang Hoon, so thoroughly baffled that he immediately responded by saying, “A teacher should be guiding kids. What kind of guidance was he giving?” As the episode progressed, it turned out that not only did the couple have a problematic start, but their entire relationship was questionable.

When the show probed into the couple’s personal dynamics, it revealed the husband’s highly violent tendencies, to the extent that his wife had him reported to the police several times. The wife, on the other hand, suffered from a severe drinking problem. She would drink five days a week, downing four to five bottles a day. She also had a habit of verbally berating her husband when upset, which led to more conflicts.

Another significant issue in their marriage is the exposure of their children to these marital fights. The couple has six children, all of whom suffer due to their dysfunctional household. The wife is currently pregnant with their seventh child. The husband is neither employed nor helps with house chores, and the family lives on government subsidies. The show’s probe into their household revealed that the pregnant wife was shouldering the burden of housework and childcare all alone.

The MCs of the show couldn’t contain their sharp rebuke of the husband after watching the videos of his behavior. Jin Tae Hyun called him “a bear in a house where people live,” while Seo Jang Hoon told him off, saying he lived as he belonged in the “primitive era.” The situation got so intense that Jin Tae Hyun, who was playing the role of the husband’s domestic affairs investigator, announced that he couldn’t defend the man anymore and gave up.
