Clara to be disciplined for her double contract controversy
On January 29th, the Korean Talent Management Association revealed their opinion on the dispute between Clara and Polaris Entertainment. Measures are being discussed between the officials to limit Clara’s activities in the industry.
Although some fans stand with Clara in her dispute with Polaris Entertainment, in the seemingly endless dispute, a result is finally arising with the official association.
The association states, “Clara had already broke the policy that we follow. The policy is to notify the current management and complete the contract before moving on to signing any contract. However, she had failed to do so for the second time. Clara had been given disciplinary actions to make sure she does not cause another issue similar to this before in July 2012.”
“However,” the association continued, “despite this, she had known and also agreed to the fact that she will be given punishment at a higher level if such actions were taken again, Clara once again caused problems in the industry. Also, the fact that she is continuing her activities as a public entertainer in the industry is very displeasing for us as her problems are still at hand.”
“It is required for Clara to be limited of her activities as she is an entertainer who presents herself to the public. She will need to officially and properly make an apology to the public for the issues she had caused before moving on. In fact, the controversy becomes even more of an issue as she has been publicly notifying a case of sexual harassment by her agency, which can be a delicate subject for the public. As an entertainer, she should be responsible of her actions. Her lack of remorse calls for such disciplinary actions even more at this point.”
The following is the entire statement.
We would like to remind everyone that the Korean Entertainment Management Society and The Reward and Punishment Committee of Ethics has been in place since 2009 to remind those in the entertainment business to stay within moral bounds of activities and fix those who step outside of ethical bounds.
We have officially adopted the case regarding Clara (Lee Sungmin) in order to better the growth of the entertainment industry and lead it to the right direction.
Although the official result of the case is yet to be released, the case deals with very sensitive subjects as sexual harassment and is causing an uproar in a social aspect. We plan to deal with this gravely.
There are however, no systems in place to limit the effect such an event has on society. Specifically in this case, those who idolize aforementioned celebrity are mostly in their adolescence and she must be held accountable for her actions since she is more than likely to influence the actions. Especially since her income comes from the love and support of the general public.
In July 2012, Clara was given a warning in her actions of signing contracts with two companies ignoring all custom and rules of the field. She was warned that if she was involved in another such case in the future, she would be punished and she would not be able to argue her case. She, however, went on to cause another societal problem and the fact that she is continuing her activities despite her recent problems is truly regrettable.
