Compilation Of Idols’ Gifts For Fans At “2024 MBC Gayo Daejeon” Sparks Criticism And Debate

It is a trend for idols to give back to fans.

Idols usually provide fans with gifts or “reverse support” when they attend offline events such as music shows and festivals. Over the years, it has seemed to become a competition of sorts, with fans comparing the gifts. While it is understandable that rookie idols provide less extravagant gifts, expectations are often high for seasoned idols. For the 2024 MBC Gayo Daejeon, a netizen compiled a list of gifts fans received.

  • I don’t know about other things, but they should at least give them food.
  • If someone was waiting in the cold for a few hours for me, of course I would want to give them food and gifts and be thankful. Idols even earn money thanks to fans. If they are idols who get invited to perform for year-end festivals, then of course they will have some level of recognition, so it’s too much that they don’t give anything at all, no matter how the relationship between fan and idol is.
  • Just give them something, FR, my biases…
  • They’ve earned as much as they should already, so this is too much. They’re not rookies, and it’s impossible they don’t know how pre-recordings work. They just don’t care about fans.
  • Wow…I left the fandom because they were starting to be money-grabby, but seems like they didn’t live up to my low expectations about this. I don’t particularly like reverse support, but they should give at least simple meals or hot packs to the fans due to the cold during year-end events. How can they think it’s a pity to spend money on the fans? This is too much… Their experienced years are wasted.
  • If they care about the fans waiting for hours in the cold, they should give them something. It’s not like they don’t have enough to even get a coffee truck… This is too much… I thought they were doing well seeing their chart rankings and album sales LOL. If they’re not going to feed them something warm, at least a hot pack or something…

On the other hand, some worry about the black market for resales of these support gifts. While food cannot be resold easily, things such as photocards and small items usually make their way onto the resale market at exorbitant prices.
